When domestic and foreign mills moved ferrous scrap prices down by about $40 per metric ton in July, scrap metal generators and collectors reduced their sales to yards. With the dip in prices at the scale, scrap yards reported lower volumes and diminished inventories. As a result of the ensuing market tightness, analysts feel the scrap price drop has ended and that better pricing is expected this fall.
