For over 50 years, Schuyler Rubber Co. has been making their laminated rubber marine fenders out of 100-percent post-consumer crumb rubber recovered from scrap tires. The benefits of laminated rubber over virgin product for marine fenders are manifold, according to the company.rnFor example, laminated rubber is up to 300-percent less expensive to purchase, and install, compared to virgin rubber, according to Schuyler. It's also morerndurable. Schuyler points to tests that found the company's recycled rubber cutting edges - used by wheel loaders at transfer stations - lasting up to 111 percent longer than virgin molded rubber edges.
