Even with near-record pricing for baled plastic bottles in the past five months, frowns are common among industry players. Recy-cling experts say if current conditions prevail for much longer, some bottle reclaimers will be forced to shut their doors. Interviews with more than two-dozen reclaimers, suppliers and exporters tell the important story of how robust prices for recyclable PET and HDPE bottles may lead to industry contraction.
