In the Letter to the, Editor Drs. Henshaw and Carroll suggest that our focus on childhood leukemia (Kheifets et al., 2005, 2006) as a basis for precautionary policies is: (1) unjustified given that several more common diseases have also been linked to exposure to power-frequency magnetic fields (MF); and (2) because of this, the scope of precaution-based policies that attempt to limit exposures to MF should be increased. The evidence and their analysis, however, do not support their argument.
