Behavioural values of travel time savings for the private motorist are estimated as a function of income and trip purpose. This is done by calibrating joint destination-route choice models using revealed preference data ('free route' versus toll route) collected by mail-back questionnaire. The study presents average values of time savings for a typical urban flow mix suitable for use in both demand forecasting and economic evaluation.
