The John Deere 944K hybrid wheel loader, coupled with a 536-hp PowerTech engine, can provide significant fuel savings over 9-cu-yd loaders with conventional drivetrains. During operation, the engine can run in a limited speed range of 1,200 rpm to 1,800 rpm for maximum fuel efficiency in Normal Mode or can run at constant speed in Performance Mode, enabling boom and bucket functions to be powerful, responsive and quick. Offering quick ramp-dimbing ability, the 944K has a bucket width of 12 ft and breakout force of 103,388 lb. Loader noise is a quiet 108 dBA, while cab noise is only 72 dBA for the operator. The 944K's standard traction-control automatically limits torque to any wheel when slippage occurs.
