Nearly 60,000 bridges across the U.S. are in desperate need of repair, and the bridges in our nation's metropolitan areas, which are an indispensable link for both millions of commuters and freight on a daily basis, are decaying more rapidly than our rural bridges. As our transportation infrastructure continues to age and deteriorate, greater attention is being given to life-cycle costs and the use of extended-life concrete to build longer-lasting, low-maintenance bridges.
