Beverley-based TIR Training Services Ltd is trying to address a claim by Skills for Logistics that the logistics industry is short of training providers. Paul Thompson, general manager at TIR, says: "Perhaps more accurately, Skills for Logistics means the industry is short of high-quality training providers. "It is alarming, but perhaps not a surprising claim by our Sector Skills Council; simply by being in this industry you come across other providers and there are many good ones, but unfortunately there are some frighteningly bad providers out there, and I've heard a few horror stories that I'd rather not share! We have trebled in size in the past 18 months and have ambitious plans for growth in the next two to three years, but we will ensure that we maintain control and, most importantly, the quality of training and assessment we provide."
