According to Gary Hodgson, a transport lawyer with Ford & Warren Solicitors, proposed changes to UK legislation required to comply with the new European regulations and driver's hours, mean that employers could have absolute liability for their drivers' infringements, no matter what the circumstances. He says the industry must act now. Based on new European regulations, the government has issued a consultation document that contains proposals that fundamentally change the way driver's hours will be enforced in the UK.
