摘要

The paper presents the results of the petrographic, sedimentologic and structural analyses of the well known Stanca Serbesti outcrop (Neamt). The deposits were dated as Bessarabian by previous authors. Petrographically, the deposits consist of conglomerates, sandstones, sands and mudstones. The facies analysis revealed the existence of six facies associations which were interpreted in sub-environment terms of a non deltaic clastic coast depositional environment characterised by barrier island/lagoon complex. The close-up logging of the small scale sedimentary structures prove that the whole sedimentary pile is upside down. This observation brings us to the conclusion that the Bessarabian deposits which crop out in Stanca Serbesti are involved in the overturned limb of a footwall syncline beneath the Pericarpathian fault. Their deformation is due to Wallachian tectogenesis.
