IOSH's Yorkshire Branch examined a safety professional's role in civil proceedings during its annual seminar. More than 130 branch members attended the event, which built on previous meeting topics such as accident investigation and legal privilege. Members were encouraged to consider how these elements could play out in personal injury claims and an insurance claim. Andrew Evans, a barrister with St Phillips Chambers, gave a presentation on what to expect when called as a witness in civil proceedings. The event concluded with a mock cross-examination to bring the theory to life. Other speakers included experts from Simpson & Marwick solicitors and risk management and insurance company AON.
