Agricultural tire properties are necessary for the vibration analysis, which is of importance for the optimum design of riding tractor. In this study, an investigation was conducted to evaluate static and dynamic response characteristics of front and rear tires mounted on a 2WD farm tractor. The vertical tire properties were measured by static load-deflection and non-rolling vertical free vibration methods. Mass moment of inertia of the test frame, which was needed for tire property computation, was also determined for a given system configuration. The measurement results include static load-deflection curves and free vibration time-histories. Static tire stiffness and energy dissipation were determined from the hysteresis loops, while dynamic stiffness and damping coefficient were derived from the logarithmic decrement of the free vibration data. The vertical tire stiffness increased with increasing load and inflation pressure except for low-pressure tires under high vertical load. Meanwhile, the vertical tire damping increased with increasing load and decreased with increasing inflation pressure.
