2nd June 1910 - Charles Rolls makes the first non-stop double crossing of the Channel from Dover in 1 hour, 35 minutes. 3rd June 1936-The Air Ministry awards a contract to Hawker for 600 Hurricane Mk. 1 fighters, the first of a new breed of high-speed, eight-gun interceptors for the RAF. 14th June 1919-The first non-stop crossing of the Atlantic is made by a British two-man team of Capt.John Alcockand Lt. Arthur Whitten-Brown.
