High-strain-rate and quasi-static compressive tests were carried out on a highly porous shape-memory alloy. Porous bulk specimens with a three-dimensional network structure were recently fabricated by vacuum sintering of rapidly solidified 50Ti-49.68Ni-0.32Mo (at.%) alloy fibers. An open porosity of 75% was achieved. A split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) experiment was used to apply a compressive high strain rate on the bulk specimens. The dynamic result did not show a significant difference from the static test result. Young's modulus of the porous material was about 100 MPa which is the same order of magnitude as bone.
