The Jabalpur Local Centre of the Institution organised the Twenty-sixth National Convention of Electrical Engineers during November 13-14, 2010. The Chief Guest Mr Ajay Vishnoi, Cabinet Minister, New and Renewable Energy, Government of Madhya Pradesh, in his inaugural address, said that the utilization of non-conventional energy resources was the way of fulfilling increased requirement of electricity for development of the country. 'It is the right time to concern upon power generation through solar, wind, biomass and urban waste to overcome the hurdles of conventional power generation', added Mr Vishnoi. Mr Madan Lai, the then President of the Institution, briefed the audience about renewable energy sources in sustainable development in power sector. Mr V L Malhotra, the then Chairman, Electrical Engineering Division Board of the Institution, spoke about various activities of this important division and discussed various aspects embracing the theme. Dr OmPrakash G Kulkarni, Mentor, Advisor and Consulting Engineer in Automation, Instrumentation, Energy Management, CDM and Renewable Energy, Nashik, delivered the keynote address.
