Different types of electrochemical phenomena above thunderstorms in the upper part of mesosphere are responsible for producing various mysterious incidents like red sprites, blue jets and terrestrial gamma ray flashes (TGF). Basically the red sprites are optical emissions produced mainly in the red-spectrum region and occurring at mesosphere region. They appear to be associated with cloud-to-ground discharges.
