The Italian scientist Alessandro Volta (1745-1827), the inventor of the Voltaic pile, was born in Como. In 1927 on the occasion of his 100th death centenary, eminent physicists of the world were invited. Debendra Mohan Bose (1885-1975) of India was one of them. On the occasion of Bose's 125th birth anniversary, the story of his invitation to Como Conference is explored in detail. It is suggested that due to the quality of his scientific work in the fields of radioactivity and electromagnetism, he got this prestigious invitation. The Como Committee was not mistaken in sending him the invitation as was claimed in some Indian circles.
