The variability of south-west monsoon rainfall over two Indian states West Bengal and Assam situated on the border of tropics and temperate zone is examined by simple and multiple regression analysis. A trend study of monsoon temperature with rainfall exhibits a nearly equal predicted value with the actual one. The technique we have implemented for multiple regression analysis incorporating the humidity and sunshine hours besides seasonal rainfall strongly supports the estimated equations we derived.
