摘要

The advancement of multimedia and communication technologies has facilitated various forms of organized crime leading to a significant increase of concern about huge loss of money to the service providers. Criminals have committed crimes either through the misuse of telephone equipment or against telecommunication equipment. Every technological development has provided a new opportunity for criminal activity, which has often been utilized by offenders. In a case, it was alleged that some persons have committed fraud using public telephone lines, which involves huge loss of economy to the service provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), Kolkata, India and as a result affects consumers and business of the government. In present paper, the case was studied in detail and found that international calls (ISD) were made illegally through local telephone lines via VoIP with by passing Indian BSNL/VSNL gates, which causes huge amount of revenue loss.
