Several modern techniques are in use for proper diagnosis and prevention of fish diseases. Immunobiochemical techniques are one of those advanced approaches. To isolate and purify molecules of interest from different pathogenic protein preparations, various chromatographic and electrophoretic techniques are used. Subsequent serological characterization is logically done for those molecules to exploit their potentiality in diagnosis and prophylaxis of various fish diseases. Although gene-based diagnostic techniques have gained popularity for their rapidity, the immunobiochemical techniques won't be ignored in near future, as these are cost-effective and user-friendly.
