Vetiveria zizanoides Linn., family Gramineae occurs wild in several parts of India and its roots have long been used in incense and perfumes. The essential oil of Vetiver is widely used by the soap, perfumery and cosmetic industry. Its oil has been found to possess antiviral activity. Essential oil of vetiver obtained from different genotypes shows lot of variation in their physio-chemical properties. In view of the above observation the author studied the physio-chemical properties of oil of vetiver obtained from ten different genotypes.
