摘要

A carbonized wood sample measuring about 10 cm x 4 cm was sent by the State Archaeological Department, Kerala to the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeobotany, Lucknow for determining its age by ~(14)C dating method. The age of the wood sample was estimated to be 920-1060 years BP (statistical error +- 70 yrs). An average age of 990 years BP (BS-1982) has been calculated as per the report prepared by the second author and sent to the State Archaeological Department, Kerala.
