摘要

The water quality of the river Jalangi adjacent to Krishnanagar city was assessed by physico-chemical and microbial parameters for a period of ten months. During the study period, the water quality always remained from the grade good to excellent as per the classification of National Sanitation Foundation Water Quality Index (NSF-WQI) values. The present study indicates that the water of the river could be used for all purposes and of course, in case of public water supply proper disinfection is necessary. A stringent management action plan should be formulated at the earliest for not further deterioration of the river water so that no untoward event can occur to the users.
