The year 1918 is a very special year in history. World War 1 ended, the deadly Spanish Flu Pandemic began, Nova Aquilae was discovered, Nobel Prizes were awarded to two outstanding scientists (Max Planck and Fritz Haber) and nine scientists and a pacifist born this year later received Nobel Prizes in their respective fields. This list includes, inter alia, stalwarts like Richard Feynman, Frederick Sanger (the only two time-recipient of Nobel Prize in Chemistry), Sir Derek Barton and Nelson Mandela. Two Nobel Laureates passed away and many scientific and technical feats were achieved in 1918. These century-old revelations of the happenings in 1918 are briefly presented herein.
