This short book packs an astounding amount of information and analysis into its pages. Three contributions are especially noteworthy. 1) Jameson presents perhaps the best brief overview of Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit in print. 2) He provides strong reasons to think that standard readings of Hegel's philosophy are uncharitable, if not mistaken. And 3) he elaborates some important ways Hegel's work continues to resonate, more than 200 years after it was composed.
