Holmes et al. (2009) provided us with a skillful discussion of the low-level environmental mercury exposure that is of concern to human health. The complexity and dynamics of research on the surrounding issues created an opportunity to complement information and sharpen their interesting message. In this regard, their review left some issues under-represented: newly found mercury sources in unsuspected foods and an update on iatrogenic sources of organic mercury exposure for young children - ethylmercury derived from thimerosal preservatives.
