Smart Link has spun off its VoIP business to form Voxelle, a company focused on providing semiconductor and software solutions for manufacturers of VoIP peripherals and systems in the consumer and digital office arenas. Smart-Link (see April 1997 issue) was founded in 1995 to focus on "soft" chipless modems and will continue to concentrate its efforts on modems and media streaming technologies. In addition to the initial investment from SmartLink, Voxelle is in the process of finalizing its Series A round from VCs along with a strategic investor. Breakeven is anticipated in 2007. The company has 35 employees.
