The American Shore and Beach Preservation Association (ASB-PA) was formed in 1926. In the early years, there were conference papers and discussion summaries that were provided to the association members, but the first publication of the Shore and Beach journal occurred in 1933. These early issues were detailed conference write-ups, almost like transcripts that covered the presentation as well as the following question-and-answer period. The early issues tended to cover mostly conference presentations and include a few technical papers that were part of the journal material. In this pattern, the first issue was a summation of the conference presentations and the second issue presented papers on the eelgrass situation on the east coast, erosion of the Florida and Georgia beaches, and the characteristics of parabolic seawalls - all topics still discussed today.
