This issue of Shore & Beach is as close to a perfect issue as I've yet experienced as editor. Irene Watts volunteered to put together this issue about Hurricane Irene, and my only responsi bility was to get an occasional progress report. Irene deserves all the credit for this eponymous issue. Thanks to Irene's hard work I've had the opportunity to spend some time with Professor Wiegel talking with him about his recollections about Shore and Beach while it was under the stellar direction of Joe Johnson and then Bob Wiegel. It's been quite enlightening and humbling to get this expanded per spective on the journal's history.
