The annual ASBPA National Coastal Conference for 2012 will be in San Diego this fall. This issue of Shore & Beach provides an introduction to several of the big coastal issues for the southern California coast - beaches, water sports, and wetlands. Katie Levy and Shelby Tucker have a paper about the second major regional sand management project to be undertaken as a joint effort by many of the beach communities throughout San Diego. Many of the beaches that are part of this project will have been nourished by the time of the conference; if you are going to the conference, plan some beach time as well to see the results of this project.
