摘要

The author's treatment of the statistics and probabilities associated with irregular (random) waves has always been the strength of this book since the first edition published in 1984. Part II is highly theoretical and serves as a textbook of irregular wave energy for graduate students. Part I treats the design aspects of coastal (maritime) structures and is for practicing engineers by providing the design tools to deal with irregular (random) waves (shoaling, refraction, diffraction, reflection, and wave breaking). The emphasis in on irregular waves for these wave transformation processes in shallow, coastal waters and not simple, regular wave theories. This is one strength of the book.
