Dr. Charlie Finkl established and is the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Coastal Research, the leading multidisciplinary international journal linking coastal science, management and engineering. Dr. Finkl is also the driving force behind the Coastal Educational and Research Foundation (CERF), which is the lead agency for the series of biennial international coastal symposia.rnDr. Finkl has published more than 70 peer-reviewed articles in scientific journals, along with 75 chapters in books and entries in encyclopedias. These published papers and chapters have focused primarily on the understanding of beach sediment dynamics, beach erosion, nearshore sand deposits for beach restoration, beach renourishment and the use of airborne laser bathymetry for nearshore submarine surveys supporting interpretations of littoral sediment dynamics.
