Thailand is experiencing meteoric economic growth and with it comes the challenge of rapidly expanding its nationwide infrastructure. In the telecommunications sector, the Thai government is using extensive deregulation and privatization to accelerate the construction and expansion of its telephone system and is installing its first cable television (CATV) network in Bangkok. The CATV project is a joint venture among private companies, among which Siemens is a major player.
