The U.S. Department of Energy is funding $3.3 million for a two-year projectrnrelated to the planning and construction of a 10-MW oxy-combustionrnpilot plant, the Southwest Research Institute announced Aug. 29.rn“Oxyfuel combustion has the potential to provide carbon emissions-free,rnhigh efficiency electricity in next-generation advanced power plants,” saidrnDanny Deffenbaugh, vice president of the Southwest Research Institute’srnMechanical Engineering Division, which will be leading the project.
