Watchfire's complex security application can discover subtle vulnerabilities in your Web applications, letting you keep the script kiddies and malicious hackers at bay. Like many overloaded web developers and administrators, I tend to push security down the priority tree. Given the limited resources available to our group at the University of Wisconsin, it's often all we can do to get applications online with decent quality. Although we try to avoid leaving holes in our apps, we don't have the personnel, knowledge or time to assess and fix every possible vulnerability. Consequendy, we've on occasion had to deal with script kiddies who deface websites. More worrisome, however, are the sophisticated criminals who've discovered there's serious money to be stolen on the Web.
