Morphingthe productivity of ASP.NET into a deployment environment based on Java, Visual MainWin for J2EE might serve as the solution for your dual-platform development needs. Talk all you want about red and blue states—the really significant divide in this country is between those who use the Java platform and those relying on .NET's CLR—yet peace must prevail. All large organizations, especially those with a penchant for acquisition, will at some point have projects on both platforms. And even the most rabid fans of one platform will envy some aspect of the other. Two of .NET's more envied elements are ASP.NET and the productivity of creating Web applications in Visual Studio .NET 2003. Conversely, one of the Java platform's juiciest gems is the common bounty of the rock-solid Apache Jakarta project.
