Geochemical Research of the Organic Matter of Coal from the Sergeevskoe Brown Coal Deposit

The composition of brown coal in the Buzulinsk suite of the Sergeevskoe brown coal deposit (Upper Amur region, Russia) was studied using organic geochemistry methods. The distribution of various types of bitumoids over the depth of the section was revealed. The following compounds were identified in hydrocarbon biomarkers by chromatography and chromatography-mass spectrometry: C-14-C(40)n-alkanes,iC(13)-C(25)acyclic isoprenoids, C-27-C(30)sterane and C-19-C(35)terpane structures (hopanes and homohopanes, moretanes, and tri- and tetracyclanes), and aromatic hydrocarbons (phenanthrenes, dibenzothiophenes, and mono- and triaromatic steroids). It was shown that the main source of the terrigenous organic matter of Sergeevskoe coal is the highest ground vegetation. The contribution of aquagenic biomaterial was due to facies changes in the regimes of coal accumulation.
