摘要

It is shown that nitric acid acts as a reagent for the preparation of interstitial compounds of anthracite (like graphite nitrate) and also as a nitrating and oxidizing agent. At the initial stage of the process nitric acid is a nitrating agent. As the nitric acid formed in the process is dissolved in water the oxidation of the anthracite surface mainly occurs. In the presence of a dehydrating agent (concentrated sulfuric acid), the anthracite undergoes a sulfonation reaction. A generalized scheme of the process is proposed.
