Mixtures of raw coal-tar benzene (benzol) and tar fractions with a boiling point of up to 230℃ were subjected to hydrorefining followed by the hydrodealkylation of the components of the raw material to benzene and naphthalene. It is shown that at the hydrorefining stage the naphthalene of the feed is converted to tetralin, which is a hydrogen donor in hydrodealkylation reactions and which prevents the formation of carbonaceous deposits on a special catalyst.
