The authors have studied the effect of the anisometry of filler particles and pressing method on the density and thermal expansion coefficient (TEC) of fine-grained graphites based on isotropic and anisotropic fillers. It is shown that in the case of unidirectional pressing the increase in size of filler particles or the decrease of their anisometry leads to an increase in the density of pressed blanks. In the case of isostatic pressing the anisometric particles of the filler are oriented randomly, which lowers the density of graphites. The production of dense isotropic graphites with a thermal expansion coefficient of the order of 3.3x 10~(-6) K~(-1) with the use of fillers with anisometric particles is possible when use is made of two-component fillers containing up to 40% (and more) of fine particles with a shape close to isometric.
