Fast-track Communications: A new section in Solid State Communications

In this issue, Solid State Communications starts a new venue for the very rapid publication of short communications on significant developments in condensed matter science. The goal is to offer the broad condensed matter community quick and immediate access to recently completed work in research areas that are rapidly evolving and in which there are developments with great potential impact. This is a new section in the journal that is called 'Fast-track Communications'. The 'Fast-track' channel has to be requested by the authors in a letter that explains the reasons for the request. The editorial decision on a manuscript submitted for the 'Fast-track' section will be communicated to the authors in about 15 days from the date of submission. Manuscripts accepted for publication in the 'Fast-track Communications' section will be given high priority for production and publication. In the case of submissions that are judged not to be suitable for the 'Fast-track Communications' section, and that are not rejected for being 'out-of-scope' for publication in Solid State Communications, the authors will be offered the option to place the paper in the 'normal' track of Solid State Communications.
