A noise study was conducted to quantify the effectiveness of a special soundwall extension called "Noise Reducer" in reducing highway traffic noise. Noise Reducer is designed to reduce diffracted sound waves by locating absorptive material at the top of a soundwall. Noise Reducer was installed on the top of an existing soundwall for 200 meters next to the I-5 freeway in Los Angeles, CA. Noise measurements were conducted before and after installing Noise Reducer to determine the amount of noise reduction.
