Vector Averaging is a technique used by modern balancing instruments to overcome many problems caused by variations in phase and amplitude when balancing machinery. In this age of microprocessors and computers, it is all too easy for the user to blindly follow a procedure without understanding the process or its limitations. A little understanding and a lot of common sense can save a lot of otherwise wasted effort.
