摘要

Through X-ray imaging with zirconia tracers and temperature oscillation measurements, the Marangoni flow instability was experimentally observed. Non-axisymmetric tem- perature distribution was formed and it pulsated and/or rotated with a frequency of 0.1- 0.3 Hz. This mode of instability depends on the aspect ratio of the column. Transition of the Marangoni flow mode from an oscillatory flow with single frequency to that with multiple frequencies was observed at the Marangoni number of about 1500.
