Beginning in the early 1960s and continuing to the present, Lockheed Martin has contributed to the development of the technology for the management of liquid propel- lants in their storage tanks through various test programs performed in a drop tower test facility. Providing 2s of near-zero-gravity of very low accelerations, this versatile an economical facility has been used to investigate a wide range of phenomena, such as: propellant expulsion in low-gravity; propellant reorientation and sloshing due to space- craft maneuvers; and low-gravity transfer of propellants.
