摘要

In the study of boiling in microgravity, the use of drop towers for ground testing can have distinct advantages over aircraft parabolic flights, including higher quality reduced gravity and faster turn-around times where effects of multiple parameters are to be inves- tigated. In certain domains of these parameters the transient response time of boiling I sufficiently short that drop tower testing is an adequate substitute for experimentation in space. Some examples are presented for pool boiling, in which the microgravity times ranged from 1.4 to over 120 s.
