A review of the effects of gravity on premixed-gas combustion is presented, with an emphasis on the motivation for and results of experiments conducted in drop towers. Estimation of time scales show that drop towers are ideally suited to many types of Premixed-gas flame experiments because of their short response times and the need for High quality of microgravity. Results of such experiments indicate that the removal of Buovancy-induced convection leads to the manifestations of other transport processes, Notably radiative heat losses and Lewis number(diffusional)effects. Examples from Flammability limits, flame instabilities, curved and strained flames, and turbulent flames Are presented. Topics for future research are suggested.
