The world's top three commercial satellite fleet operators have sent fresh signals that they are largely beyond the reach of the global economic crisis and will maintain their aggressive spending plans. In separate announcements to investors, SES of Luxembourg, Intelsat of Bermuda and Washington, and Eutelsat of Paris - which together account for two-thirds of the annual revenue in the fixed-satellite services market - reported high occupancy of their fleets and said near-term demand continues to grow. All three said they are maintaining or accelerating their satellite replacement and expansion programs. In the commercial telecommunications satellite world, building and launching a satellite means spending at least $200 million and waiting at least two years before the first revenue is recognized.
