Al Yah Satellite Communications Co. of Abu Dhabi, which is building two large dual-use satellites for launch in 2010 and 2011, announced it is introducing a secure Ka-band service over Europe, Asia, Africa and the Middle East. Yahsat said it intends to be "the first satellite operator in the region to provide secure satellite service in Ka-band." Yahsat Chief Executive Jassem Al Zaabi said the Yahsat service is designed to serve border-control and coast guard services, embassy networks and other government agencies in addition to military services "by providing breach-proof encryption services and robust levels of security for mission-critical applications."
