Companies building chipsets to support satellite navigation services from cellular telephones and other portable devices said adding support for more satellites and broadcast frequencies is of little interest to them given the capabilities already on board hand-held devices and the cost constraints to adding anything else.rnIn particular, they said adding the capability to receive signals from Russia's Glonass or Europe's Galileo satellite systems to the already crowded chips being put into cellular handsets will meet resistance from manufacturers. The chips in question measure 3 square millimeters and cost around $2.50.
